I am from Hunan, where it is rare to see snow, so I really love snow. My husband is from Jilin, where it snows every year. In winter, the land, rivers, trees, houses, and streets all turn white–it is extremely beautiful.

I still remember the first time he took me back to his hometown. It was on a cold winter day. We could fly from Hunan to Jilin, but the plane tickets were expensive. We were still college students so we opted in for the cheaper option of taking the train. It would take the train an entire night to reach our destination. As we moved further north, the temperature in the cart dropped. I was wearing thick cotton-quilted clothes, but I was still unable to fend off the cold of the winter night. At late night, the cart was quiet. I quietly leaned over to him and asked, “Aren’t you cold? My feet are already as cold as ice.”
