100 Common Chinese Phrases for Travelers (Listening Edition)

Need to pick up Chinese fast for an urgent trip to China? And you don’t know any Chinese? This video is the one for you.

In this video lesson, we are going to learn 100 Chinese high-frequency phrases that you will hear in the following situations: greeting and saying goodbye, apologizing and expressing thanks, shopping, bargaining, ordering food, taking the bus/subway, asking others for help, asking for directions and more.

These are the sentences that you will hear so you don’t have to repeat them. Your goal is to understand what is being said. So the video is designed to have you listen to the sentence twice without any translation first. If you don’t understand, don’t worry, the third time will show you the English translation on the screen. Finally, you will hear the sentence two more times to help you get used to hearing native speakers speaking Mandarin Chinese.

Communication is a two-way street, this video covers the listening portion. For the speaking edition of this series 100 Most Commonly Spoken Phrases for Traveling in China, please click here where you will learn phrases that you can say right away for your trip to China.
